job hunt 6

major metropolitan area school offered me a job!!!!

ok, so TECHNICALLY, they TENTATIVELY offered me a job, pending my references & FBI clearance checks

the waiting is KILLING ME!!!

the down side - i will still be teaching high school kids - actually i will be teaching exactly what i am teaching now.... so in some ways that is good because i know i am good at what i do

but EVERYTHING ELSE will make it worth it.... housing in the area is actually affordable - my raise will make it even nicer (can you say laundry IN my own place - no more hoarding quarters!!!! nor fighting for a machine or doing laundry at 7 am on a sunday!!!)

plus it is a real city with real city theaters, museums, mass transit (read:trains, and metro/subway equivalent, real airport - not a dinky tin can hub that sends you west to go east or south to go north)

and - uh... the ummmmm.. online dating um sites... well, lets just say... as soon as i changed my zip code location in my profile - i can't keep up with the # of matches being sent my way

and my family has already said they will come and visit me... some have already check the major league sporting schedules to see if they can get tickets and vacations to match up!

  • Congratulations. And good luck passing the FBI background checks. Those can be tough... uh, I hear :)

(PS: I know it's probably not, but if it's Cincinnati or Dallas, I'll be very jealous.)

  • YEAH for you! Big cities are so much fun. It sounds like you'll be much more content.

  • Congratulations! Both on the job and the apparently mammoth amount of dating opportunities. Both should provide you with a wealth of blogging material.

  • sizzle - thanks...but i am STILL waiting to be called for my finger printing....

beth - thanks....i can't wait for a new place w/ in the apt laundry - i did laundry yesterday... SEVEN LOAD... i had to do the 3 flights 16 times... and i had to stick to one dryer cause the neighbors were using the other one... they were SO PISSED at me cause i took up the other one - at least i didn't use BOTH of them....

bone - cinci is so the WRONG direction, i am trying to get away from the not-so-great lakes area... and dallas is one of the 5 WORST districts to teach in (unless you are married to someone w/ a TON of money so you can afford to live there and you want to wear a flack jacket)

dawn... lets just keep our fingers crossed......

mary alice - that is what i am looking for...

dirk - thanks.... now if they would JUST CALL for my fbi background check.... i am SO NOT a patient person.... the "dating opportunites" are so far, um, well.... there are a lot of "interesting characters" out there - and i know you know what i mean.... ;)

mel - thanks... but i hope you are actually not DRIVING while reading & writing
